TOLLAND – On the road and far away from home, the Bristol Eastern boys soccer squad broke a four match losing streak – earning a 1-1 against Tolland in a CCC Interdivisional tilt on Tuesday.

The Lancers moved to 2-7-1 while Tolland is 2-3-4 on the campaign.

The Eagles, with their fourth tie of the season, leads the entire Class M division in stalemates to date.

Tolland got on the board first against Eastern, 13 minutes into the game, as James Silvay scored off a cross to the back left side of the Lancers’ goal to make it a 1-0 contest.

However, the Lancers had a response right after intermission.

The Kingstreeters took just 1:20 of the second half to knot the game at 1-1 as the Lancers moved the ball quickly up the Tolland right side of the field.

Adam Borry sent a ball to Dom Femiak, Eastern’s offensive standout, beating two men and crossed the ball to Tolland’s back post where Donyell Maxwell knocked it home for the tie.

“We responded in the second half and just missed winning the game on a variety of shots,” said Lancer coach Bill Sweet. “Leading the way today were Tyler Borry, Preston Guarda, Andre Gonzalez, and Rocco Barbino as we gained more control in the second period.”

Eastern keeper Dylan Piazza, in a starting assignment, made eight saves while Tolland’s Cullen Rublewski scooped in seven.

Eastern is back in action this Thursday as the locals tangle with East Hartford in a 6 p.m. game from Alumni Field in Bristol.
