Bristol opens All Star softball tournament with big win over Farmington

Little League’s annual District 5 All Star Softball Tournament began on Monday from historic Rockwell Park, as Bristol’s Junior League tournament team faced off with Farmington to begin the double elimination tournament.


Brooklynne Whitlock threw a gem on Monday for the Bristol Junior League All Stars, allowing two hits and zero runs, besting Farmington by a score of 22-0.


Bristol saw the ball well, racking up 21 hits in the game.  Desiree Nickerson, Arianna Rivera, Kayla Webber, Whitlock, Madison Foertsch, Hailey Beebe, and Makayla Antunes each had multiple hits for Bristol.  Nickerson led Bristol with five hits in five at bats, including two triples and a double.  Rivera led Bristol with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases.  

Bristol was also sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.  Whitlock had the most chances in the field with five.

Bristol (1-0) will take on Meriden (0-0) on Tuesday, with Farmington (0-1) scheduled to play in an elimination game on Wednesday.  The winner of Tuesday’s game will advance to Thursday’s District 5 championship game.
