Catching up with 3 seniors who missed their final high school baseball season

Lisa Santiago, who has been featured in a “Ten Minutes” segment and whose son is headed to college this fall on a baseball scholarship, writes to catch us up on a couple of Bristol kids who missed their senior baseball season.

The three, Matthew D’Amato, Austin Brown and her son, Jacob Santiago, will be heading to college the next few weeks where they will resume their baseball careers.

Austin Brown, the starting outfielder for Bristol Central High, is currently playing for CT Elite Baseball Alliance, Bristol, comprised of American Legion teams due to the cancellation of the Legion season. He will be heading to Nichols College.

Matt D’Amato, the starting second baseman for Bristol Eastern High, plays for the Connecticut Blue Jays 18u elite team. He played in tournaments in Connecticut, Texas, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York and Virginia. He will be heading to the College of St. Rose in Albany, N.Y. Aug. 19. Although the NE 10 conference cancelled their fall sports seasons, baseball team members will practice and inter-squad scrimmage.

Jacob Santiago, the starting catcher for Bristol Central High, is finishing up his senior summer of baseball with Team Connecticut Baseball, where he has participated since he was 12. Due to the Covid virus his travel to North Carolina, New Hampshire and among others has been cut short, but he is grateful he got a summer season playing teams throughout the New England. The NCAA has yet to cancel spring college spring sports. He will be heading to the University of Hartford Aug. 24 to continue his baseball career, fingers crossed.
