Alice M. Kozlowski Kavel, 93

Alice M. Kozlowski Kavel, 93, of Bristol, passed away on Tuesday, April 2. She was born on July 11, 1930, in Bronx, N.Y., daughter of the late Alexander and Genevieve (Czarnecki) Kozlowski. Alice was the loving wife of the late John J. Kavel, who passed away in 2003.

Alice moved to Bristol in June 1953 after her marriage to John, where they raised their two daughters. She was a member of St. Matthew Church and worked at Shular’s Market and Woolworth’s Department Store for many years. Before moving to Bristol, she had worked at New York Foundling Hospital in New York.

Alice is survived by her daughters Kathryn Middleton and her husband Ronald, Susan Kavel and her husband Scott Johnstone of Barkhamsted, her cherished grandchildren Kevin Middleton, Kyle Middleton, and Serena Johnstone, sister Betty Fuentes of New York, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by brothers, Frank, Henry, and Joseph Kozlowski.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 10, at O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol starting at 9:30 a.m. until a procession will leave for St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave. for an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
