Cooling centers open in Bristol through Sunday

Gov. Ned Lamont has activated Connecticut’s extreme hot weather protocol through 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 24.

In Bristol, cooling centers are available at the following locations: (Please check times for availability.)

  • Bristol Public Library, 5 High St. — Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m.; Fri 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Manross Memorial Library, 260 Central St., Forestville — Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m,; Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Agape House, 43 School St. — Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m.-12 noon
  • St. Vincent DePaul Shelter, 19 Jacobs St.
  • Brian’s Angels Homeless Outreach, 99 Summer St. — Tuesday through Sunday, 12-3 p.m.

The protocol allows state agencies, municipalities, and other partners to coordinate with United Way 2-1-1 to make sure that information regarding cooling centers is available statewide, providing a location to get some relief from the hot conditions.

Anyone in need of a cooling center should call 2-1-1 or look online at 211ct.org to find their nearest location.
