Christine (Protu) Giordamnis, 72

Christine (Protu) Giordamnis, 72, of Bristol, beloved wife of Iordanis Giordamnis, died on Friday, Dec. 15, at John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington. Christine was born on Jan. 29, 1951, in Rhodes, Greece, and was a daughter of the late George and Marietta (Tomazos) Protu. 

Raised in Greece, she came to Bristol in 1981 where she worked for Bussman’s Manufacturing and Rowley Spring and Stamping. She enjoyed sewing and was an avid gardener. She was a devoted member of the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church of Bristol.  She was especially close to her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband of 53 years, Christine is survived by two daughters: Marietta Tomazos and her husband, Apostoli of Rhodes, Greece, and Barbara Tomcak and her husband, Frank of Bristol; grandchildren: Christina, Sophia, Alexandra Tomcak, Demetri, Christina, and Iordanis Tomazos;  a sister: Ioanna Boniatis and husband, Manoli, of Bristol; brother: Aleko Protu and wife, Maria of Rhodes, Greece; brother-in-law: Lambros Diakolambrianos of Bristol; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her very much. She was predeceased by a sister: Hrisi Diakolambrianos.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 31 Brightwood Rd., Bristol. Burial will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Thursday between 10 and 11 a.m.
