The most recent Connecticut scholastic Top-10 in football was just released for Week 3 and while no local squad made the list, several heavy hitters populate the 10 best teams in the state.

All but one (No. 9 Fairfield Prep is 1-1) are a clean 2-0 while multiple programs received at least one first place vote in this week’s poll.

Greenwich is in first place with 670 points, earning the top spot once again.

The squad picked up 15 first place votes but must contend against No. 6 Southington (431 points) in a huge non-conference bout in Greenwich this weekend.

No. 2 New Canaan (604 points, one first place vote) is also undefeated and battles No. 9 Fairfield Prep (362 votes) in another Top-10 confrontation on Friday night.

Shelton (576 points, five first place votes) comes in at No. 3 and takes its shot at Windsor (1-1) on Friday night. The Warriors are one of the top twenty programs in the state.

No. 4 Killingly (472 votes, one first place vote) stays home to tackle Bloomfield (2-0) in another showcase on Friday while the final program to earn a first place vote, Maloney (444 points), has a big one at Darien (1-1).

After Southington, St. Joseph chimes in at No. 7 (411 points), moving up two slots in this week’s poll. Masuk travels to battle St. Joseph on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Trumbull (No. 8, 383 votes) takes on East Hartford on the road on Friday and in the final spot, is there any equal for No. 10 Ansonia in the Naugatuck Valley League?

Ansonia travels to Torrington this Friday at 7 p.m.

As always in the CT state poll, points are scored on a 30-28-26-24-22-20-18-16-14-12-11-10-9-8-7 basis.

Here are the other squads that earned votes this past week:

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
