GLASTONBURY – The Glastonbury boys soccer team enjoyed its senior night festivities on Monday and in the process, defeated Bristol Eastern by a 9-1 final in Glastonbury.

The visiting Kingstreeters fell to 3-10-1 on the season while the home squad improved to 8-4-2.

The Tomahawks rushed out to an early 3-0 edge and never looked back.

Eastern’s lone goal came after Adam Borry was fouled and Dom Femiak drilled a free kick into the far left corner of the net to get the Lancers on the board.

“We were out-classed throughout,” said Eastern coach Bill Sweet. “Glastonbury’s speed of play and skill was outstanding today.”

Eastern goalies combined for 11 saves as Carlos Portillo (seven goals) and Dylan Piazza (four) both spent time patrolling the net.

Counterparts Kane Mazur (two saves) and Patrick Butler (three) combined for five saves to lead the Glastonbury defense.

Eastern next hosts Wethersfield on Thursday in a 6 p.m. battle from Alumni Field in Bristol.

And after that bout against the Eagles, the Lancers finish their season on Tuesday, November 2 when Bristol Central invades Alumni Field for a 7 p.m. tilt.

The Rams (10-2-2) are currently seventh in the Class L postseason standings.
