St. Paul’s Tyler Turner takes 2nd in long jump at State Open Indoor Track Championship

St. Paul Junior Tyler Turner, who took the Class S long jump championship with a distance 21-6 last week, placed 2nd in the State Open on Saturday in New Haven. Turner’s best jump of the day was 21-2, which was just 1 and 1/4 inches short of first place finisher Aidan Law of Haddam-Killingworth.

Junior Allie Barton, Class S 4th place finisher in the 55 hurdles with a time of 9.13, and Senior Owen Wood, who took 6th place in the Class S pole vault with a vault of 10-6, also competed in the State Open.

Barton finished 15th in the 55 hurdles with a time of 9.36.

Wood took 16th in the Pole Vault with a jump of 11-0, 6 inches better than his Class S performance.
