Welcome to Thursday. Have a look around but don’t touch anything. Remember, if you break it, you buy it, Bristol.

This date in history

1977, New York City plunged into darkness due to two lightning strikes just north of New York City

1985, “Live Aid” concerts were held at both Wembley Stadium (London, England) and JFK Stadium (Philadelphia, Pa.).

1994, at a public hearing, the Zoning Board approved plans for a helicopter pad at Bristol Hospital. The 45×45-foot raised concrete pad would result in Life Star no longer landing at Bristol Eastern High School.

2023, this GMB is published.

Speaking of Nostradamus

Nostradamus, the 16th-century seer, predicted the end of this GMB with the following quatrain:

The scribe to the morning kerfuffle is corralled,

the pen to his thoughts proved a good valet,

but the solvent is dry, and thy musings deterred,

his fate is now met until 23 hours + one.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
