Eastern volleyball loses close match to Conard on Wednesday

The Bristol Eastern Volleyball team ran up against a quality opponent in Conard on Wednesday, and fought hard to the very finish before losing in five tense sets.

Conard jumped out to an early advantage, winning set 1 easily 25-14.

The Lancers showed their grit and pride by coming back to win set 2, 25-20.

The see-saw match continued with Conard taking the third set 25-15.

With Eastern on the edge of defeat, the girls rallied back to take set 4 in a nail-biting 27-25 squeaker.

Set 5 was also decided at the very end, with Conard taking the final 2 points to emerge victorious, 18-16.


Conard’s record is now 14-1

Nyssa Park led the victors with 40 assists and 11 digs. Danielle DiGiacomo chipped in with 13 kills and 12 digs.

Bristol Eastern’s record drops to 12-4.

Hannah Webber led the Lancers with 21 kills and 6 aces. Lauren Bender added 16 kills and Abby Jones chipped in with 33 assists.

Eastern’s next game will be on Friday at Southington in a 6:00 contest.
