Frankie Porrini and the Bristol Central boys indoor track & field team performed well at the CCC championships in New Haven on Saturday; BC girls earn third place finish in the South

NEW HAVEN – Bristol Central’s boys indoor track & field team had a busy Saturday at the CCC Indoor Track & Field Conference Championships from the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven – getting quality finishes up and down the roster.

Overall, Central placed 18th with nine team points but the program fared much better in terms of CCC South finish.

In the CCC South battle, the Rams placed second overall with 70 points as the runner-up was just 12 points behind CCC South champs Lewis Mills (82). 

In the featured event of the day, senior standout Frankie Porrini battled tit-for-tat against Hall’s Gabe Sisk in the 1000 meter run.

And the finish was in doubt until the end.

Sisk just snuck by Porrini, finishing in first place with a time of 2:33.69 while Porrini was just a tick or two behind at 2:34.67.

Patrick Wininger made an 11th place showing in the 1600 meter run in 4:48.18 while teammate Logan Jackson took 19th in the 300 meter dash (39.20 seconds).

In the finals of the 55 meter hurdles, Logan Jackson made a seventh place splash with a time of 8.56 seconds.

The 4×800 relay saw Central’s team of Chris Roy, Lance Archibald, Colin Cavallari and Wininger take 10th place with a finish of 9:16.29.

The girls program did well in the CCC South, collecting 56 points for third place.

Maloney ended the day winning the South with 94 total points while Lewis Mills seized second place (60) which was only four points better than the Rams.

In one of Central’s  best finishes, the 4×400 meter team of Sophia Stark, Rebecca Litwinczyk, Gabriela Drewniak and Lynae Lewis earned seventh place with a time of 4:30.45.
