2nd annual ‘Night of Lights’ slated for Saturday evening

Saturday evening promises to be a busy one on Veterans Memorial Boulevard with the second annual “Night of Lights” on the field outside the Bristol Arts and Innovation Magnet School and with “Christmas with the Nashville King” inside on the stage at The Rockwell Theater.

This free “Night of Lights” event will feature a community tree lighting at 6 p.m., with holiday carols, a meet and greet with Santa Claus, luminary display and hot chocolate for sale to benefit the Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services Holiday Gift Giving program.

The event, a partnership between BPRYCS and Brian Shactman from WTIC Radio, begins at 5 p.m.

The luminaries, with dedications and at no cost, will be displayed around the perimeter of the field during the celebration. Dedication forms can be found and completed in advance at www.bristolrec.com. Staff will transcribe the dedication, message or name of the person to be remembered on the luminary bags for the evening.

“Christmas with the Nashville King,” featuring Bristol native John Beardsley at Downtown Live at Rockwell Theater begins on Saturday, at 6 p.m. A matinee will be staged Sunday at 2 p.m.

Limited tickets are still available for Saturday night’s performance. The matinee, which was added to accommodate the response from the community, has a more options. Tickets, at $41, may be purchased at www.bristolrec.com.

Rain date for the “Night of Lights” is Sunday, Dec. 17, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
