Janet Bugryn, 97

Janet (Lucier) Kohl Bugryn, 97, of Bristol, widow of Frederick Kohl and Daniel Bugryn, died on Thursday, Oct. 27, at The Pines at Bristol. Janet was born in Bristol on July 3, 1925, and was a daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Louise (LeBeau) Lucier. She was a lifelong Bristol resident who attended local schools, and a parishioner of St Matthew Church, Bristol.

She met her first husband, Fred, while roller skating at Lake Compounce. They married after he returned from the service in 1946, built a home in Forestville where they raised their two daughters, and resided there for 37 years, until his death in 1984. She worked at General Electric in Plainville, and various small manufacturing facilities over the years.

Janet was married to her second husband, Dan, for 17 years until his death in 2007. In her later years she and her sister, Connie, had many adventures together, shopping, laughing and enjoying each other. Her favorite niece, Judy, gave a lot of her time to her Aunt Janet, taking her shopping and out to lunch, and also enjoying a lot of laughs.  She was the best grandma to her grandchildren, babysitting often, spoiling them and enjoying them, especially when making their favorite breakfasts to their specifications when they had days off from school.

Janet’s family would like to thank the staff of The Pines for their wonderful care. Special thanks for the third-floor staff, and especially to Sarah and Melissa, her right-hand CNA’s, whose loving and compassionate care made her final months, weeks and days as peaceful as possible.

Janet is survived by her two daughters: Suzanne Tonon and husband, James of Ellington, and Kristine Durante and husband, William of Harwinton; six grandchildren: Jan Tonon, Jacquelyn Pangilinan, Jason Tonon, Christopher Vancour, Matthew Vancour, and Sierra Durante; six great-grandchildren: Noah, Simon, Jack, Ivy, Ellie, and Connor; and nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her siblings: Frederick and Arthur Lucier, and Constance Roys.

Janet’s family will receive relatives and friends at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Tuesday, Nov. 1, between 12 noon and 1 p.m. followed by a service in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
