Eastern Lancer boys continue outstanding season with 74-40 rout of Watertown

Basketball

BRISTOL – The Bristol Eastern boys basketball team turned Saturday’s matinee into a huge blowout as the locals defeated Watertown 74-30 in a non-conference game from Bristol.

Eastern improved to 14-3 overall while Watertown fell to 2-15.

Brayden Dauphinais dropped in 16 points to lead all scorers while Lukas Sward (14), Jordan Chisholm (11) and Ben D’Amato (9) led a balanced scoring attack for the Lancers.

“We talked about just getting out and getting easy opportunities,” Eastern coach Bounty Ray said. “We really didn’t set up all that much. We ran a couple sets but for the most part, everything was up the floor fast, reversed, got it inside and got it out. Shooters were making shots and I think the scoring was pretty balanced.”

With the game tied up at 4-4, the Lancers reeled off 20 straight points to secure a 22-4 edge late in first period play.

Watertown never recovered.

Eastern nabbed a 38-12 cushion at the half, made it 60-22 through three and the reserves mopped up late to snare the 44-point victory from home.

The Lancers are tentatively scheduled to take on E.O. Smith on Tuesday (6:45 p.m.) with snow in the forecast.
