Police

At 9:00 p.m. on Friday, the Bristol Police Department reported that the serious motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 6 and Camp Street earlier in the day resulted in a fatality.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found two badly damaged vehicles, one operated by a 17 year old male and the second operated by a 61 year old male, who was entrapped in his vehicle. The Bristol Fire Department was able to extricate the trapped occupant.

As the Bristol Fire Department assessed the 61 year old male, he became unresponsive and lifesaving measures were needed. He was then transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The 17 year old male was also transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The initial investigation showed that one operator was operating eastbound on Farmington Avenue as the other operator exited a business driveway into the path of the eastbound vehicle where they collided.

This crash resulted in Farmington Avenue being shut down for several hours so the Bristol Police Department Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team could process the crash site.

Both operators will not be identified so their families can be notified of the crash.
If anyone witnessed this crash, they are encouraged to contact Bristol Police Officer Jones at 860-584-3036 with any information.
