Bristol 10 year olds start strong in District 5 Softball tournament with 13-0 win over Farmington

After rain postponed Tuesday’s game, District play in the 10 year old Little League softball division began from Wallingford’s Pragmann Park on Wednesday, as Bristol drew Farmington in the opening round of the double elimination tournament.

Centerfielder Olivia Stafford led off the game with a single and scored the first run of the contest for the visiting Bristol team.  As it would turn out, that’s all the offense her team would need.

Bristol’s Meredith Creamer pitched a memorable game, tossing a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts while only walking three Farmington batters in Bristol’s 13-0 victory.

Creamer struck out three and walked one in each of the first two innings, as Bristol’s offense was was able to score two more runs on a walk to first baseman Elle Connoy and a single by second baseman Gianna Mangan in the second inning.

Bristol was able to tack on one more run in the third inning when Madelyn Milkowski scored on a RBI ground ball off the bat of Izzy Ferrer, before the team erupted for nine runs in the fourth inning, led by a three-run home run from Creamer, and singles by Riley MacDonald, Milkowski, Ferrer, Connoy, Madelyn Voisine and Stafford.  Ava Theriault and Kaitlyn Wood each walked and scored to begin the nine-run inning for Bristol.

Bristol will face Wallingford in the winners bracket on Thursday.   Wallingford defeated New Britian by a score of 16-1 on Wednesday.  Farmington (0-1) and New Britain (0-1) will face one and other in the first elimination game of the 10 year old district softball tournament on Thursday.
