Tis Friday, Bristol. Let the celebration begin!

Pothole Patrol

Thursday evening, the PHP rolled over this disaster on Central Street in Forestville.

Everything you need to know about Central Street.

The road was built in 1833.

On Sept. 24, 1942, at around 5:20 p.m., a gust of wind, called a gale by the weather bureau but others insisted was a twister as they saw “the funnel,” knocked down a chimney and blew out a window of a confectionary store located at 157 Central St.

In December of 1984, the annual Christmas Tree Sale at the Forestville Boys Club sold freshly cut Connecticut-grown trees for $18. Among those sold were the Scotch Pine, white pine and blue spruce.

Screwy Louie visits the TBE

Bristol’s Screwy Louie stopped by the offices of the TBE Thursday evening and immediately made a beeline to the GMB staff.

Louie shared his ideas to increase visitors to the historical society, such as getting rid of all the old stuff and putting in new stuff. “Who wants to see a bunch of old photos and antiques in a historical society? Everyone likes antiques and old photos to be new,” reflected Louie.

As they say in Forestville, clean your plate, Bristol. See ya, Monday (maybe).

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
