Bristol Central and Bristol Eastern girls indoor track & field teams compete at the Class L Championships on Friday

NEW HAVEN – Both the Bristol Central and Bristol Eastern girls indoor track programs were involved at the Class L Championships on Friday in New Haven.

The Lancers managed to score a point, taking 19th place overall at the meet from the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

Windsor (first place, 82 points) won the championship while the program at Edwin O. Smith (second, 77) was the runner-up.

Shelton (59 points) earned third place, Hall (30) placed fourth along with Wilton (30).

The Lancers earned its only meet point in the 1600 sprint medley.

The team of Julia Armington, Darlissa McElroy, Kate Patterson and Kaelyn Gonzalez finished sixth overall – earning an impressive time of 4:35 on the dot.

But outside of that one point the Lancers tallied, the program made gains throughout the competitive event.

Gonzalez did extremely well in the 1000 meters, seizing ninth place with a time of 3:19.64.

The girls high jump saw junior Ryan Braccia nab a tie for tenth place with a successful make of four feet, eight inches.

For Central, there were good finishes up and down the line-up over the ultra-competitive event.

Central’s 4×400 meter relay squad made a ninth-place splash as the combination of Sophia Stark, Rebecca Litwinczyk, Emily Blanchette and Lynae Lewis finished in 4:30.42 which was just three seconds off sixth and earning a team point.

In the girls 600 meters, Stark placed tenth overall in 1:48.63.
