Bristol Eastern girls tennis falls to Manchester on Monday in Bristol by a 7-0 final

BRISTOL – The Bristol Eastern girls tennis team fell to Manchester on Monday, dropping a tough 7-0 decision in Bristol.

But the Lancers showed some gumption, pushing several of its opponents to the brink.

Manchester’s top player, Chayse Mercer, defeated Brooke Treannie (6-2, 6-3) while at No. 2 singles, Eastern’s Adrianna Reay battled Dara Song but the Kingstreeter fell in consecutive sets, 6-3 and 6-2.

No. 3 Carolina Mancini defeated Eastern’s Kianna Ouellette (6-0, 6-0) and Manchester’s Leila Affini completed the singles sweep with a victory over Vanessa Cyr at No. 4 singles.

But in doubles play, the Eastern combination of Olivia Dossias and Ava Gesner gave Manchester’s number one duo of Maddie Scott and Grace Rowe a real run for their money.

After falling 6-1 in set one, the Lancers’ combination pulled off a 6-4 win in set two – forcing a tie breaking third set.

But the top Manchester twosome hung on to win, 11-9.

At No. 2 doubles, Eastern’s Maria Perrone and Taylor Berube gave Manchester’s Ohanna Boahen and Aiyana Moore some on court heartburn as well.

Manchester won 6-4 and 7-5 and the No. 3 team of Feeha Amir and Sabrina Lam defeated Jazmein Pryce and Bella Davis (6-0, 6-1) to end the scoring.

Eastern, now 0-5 on the season, battles Berlin in Friday in a CCC South confrontation from the tennis courts at BEHS.
