NEW HAVEN – On Saturday, the Bristol Central boys indoor track squad did extremely well at the CIAC State Open event from the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

The Rams wrapped up an 11th place finish over a very tough field.

Hall of West Hartford won the title behind a 52-point showing while Hillhouse (48 points) was the runner up.

Conard scooped up third place (40 points), Greenwich nabbed fourth (24) and Staples (23) was one point behind in fifth.

And Class L state 55 meter hurdles champion, Jarrett Boxley, made another big splash at the event.

In the preliminary round, Boxley finished in third place with a time of 7.88 seconds – advancing to the finals of the hurdle event.

Boxley ended the race as the runner-up, placing second as his finish of 7.86 seconds led Central.

In the 1600 sprint medley, Boxley was at it again.

Along with the combination of Logan Jackson, Noah Conrod and Frankie Porrini, the grouping placed third overall – crossing the finish line in 3:42.01 as Central scored all 14 of its points over those two events.

Porrini placed just out of the scoring round of the 1600 meters but the standout junior finished eighth with a time of 4:30.50.

Finally, in the shot put, Malachi Jones took 13th place overall with a toss of 44 feet, three inches.
