The Bristol Central volleyball team gets to stay home in CCC Tournament play off its clean sweep of No. 11 Tolland in first round competition on Monday.

Game scores were 25-14, 25-10 and 25-13 as the Rams rolled into the second round on Wednesday.
The Rams moved to 14-7 overall off the winning effort as the CCC South champs get to stay home for the remainder of tournament play.

Lily Kirk led the offensive charge against Tolland with 16 kills, Grace Higgins added 12 while Isabella Alves zipped up four to lead the offensive charge.

Central dropped in 15 total aces with Higgins splashing in five and Alex Rivera and Daigelis Figueroa each posting three apiece as serve-receive was a problem for the Eagles.

Ella Pratt blocked a couple shots, Figueroa bumped up 17 digs and Rivera posted 36 assists.

It was a good showing by the Rams and the squad remains home in second round play.

No. 14 Newington foiled No. 3 Windsor three games to one over the biggest upset this postseason.

That means the Rams get to play hosts to the Nor’easters on Wednesday evening at the Charles C. Marsh Gymnasium.

Match time is 6 p.m. as the Pepperdome will be rocking once again.

Also in first round play, No. 8 Simsbury was able to beat No. 9 Bristol Eastern by a 3-0 push as the Lancers fell on the road.

The Kingstreeters ended up dropping the match by scores of 25-13, 25-19 and 25-12.

Off the loss, Eastern moved to 12-7 overall but the squad will be preparing for Class L play next week.
