Bristol police arrest and charge person for shooting incident on Chestnut St.

Bristol police reported that on Friday, at approximately 6:22 a.m., police received calls into the dispatch center about multiple gun shots being fired in the area of Chestnut Street. Responding officers found a parked car that had been struck multiple times by gunfire.

The victim/owner of the car was located a short time later, and reported that he had been assaulted in the early morning hours by a Jack Allen. The victim also told officers that after Allen had assaulted him, Allen returned to his address with a weapon and fired into his vehicle.


Officers from the Patrol Division responded to Allen’s address of 108 South Street, Bristol and attempted to make contact with Allen.

Bristol police detectives began to work the case along with patrol officers. Officers developed information to believe Allen was the shooter and may be in a possession of an assault type weapon.

The Central Regional Emergency Response Team was activated and responded to Allen’s address. Allen was found hiding in his home and taken into custody shortly before 8:00 p.m.

Detectives located an assault rifle in Allen’s vehicle. Allen was arrested and is being held on $150,000 bond pending arraignment at New Britain Superior Court.

Allen was charged with the following Connecticut General Statutes violations:

 53-202c* – Illegal Possession of an Assault Weapon
 53-203 – Illegal Discharge of a Firearm
 53a-217 – Criminal Possession of Firearm / Ammunition
 53a-116 – Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree
 53a-60 – Assault in the 2nd Degree
 53a-181 – Breach of Peace 2nd Degree
