NEW HAVEN – A little school history was made by the Bristol Central girls and boys indoor track teams from the 39th Yale Track Classic in New Haven over the weekend.

The Rams stormed the facility with zest and on the girls side, the 4×400 relay team put together a new record at Central.

The combination of Lynae Lewis, Sophia Stark, Tracie Mills and Kate Tran completed the event in 4:17.96 – a new school record.

The team finished the race in fourth place in its division.

The old school record of 4:20.21 minutes was established at Central 21 years ago by the team of Kayla Sakowski, Alyse Phoenix, Alex Czuchta and Erika Nolting.

It was an exciting day for the girls relay team but on the flip side, the boys also had a great day.

This time, in the Connecticut 4×800 relay, the squad of Julieen Lopez, Rowen Hennessey, Aiden Georgakopoulos and Isaiah Fabrizio won the event.

And they did it record time, finishing in 8.22.97 minutes.

Central head coach Kiara Bonilla had several athletes perform well from the Coxe Cage in New Haven as the program is having some real success over the indoor track season.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
