Leonard J. Roy, Sr.

Leonard J. Roy, Sr., 87, of Mont Vernon, N.H., formerly of Bristol, widower of Gladys (Casey) Roy, died on Saturday, Dec. 18, in New Hampshire.

Leonard was born on Oct. 17, 1934, in Fort Kent, Maine, and was a son of the late Leonard and Arline Roy. He moved to Bristol with his parents and siblings at an early age where he graduated from high school and lived his entire life until moving to New Hampshire three years ago. A United States Army veteran, he was a life-member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Bristol Polish Club.

Leonard is survived by eight children: Laurie Blumenthal of Bristol, Brian Roy of Mont Vernon, N.H., Brenda Harris of Bristol, Leonard Roy, Jr., of Plainfield, Tammy Rollins, Joseph R. Roy, David J. Roy all of Bristol, and Sheila Roy of Virginia; four siblings: Theresa Savino of Bristol, Roger Roy of Florida, Beverly Isham of Bristol, and Greta Manning of Georgia; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by three children: Denise and Jeffrey Roy, and Pamela DeRosa.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 4:  Family and friends may visit between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, CT.

A prayer service will commence at 12 noon followed by burial with military honors in Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol.
