The Bristol Sports Hall of Fame honored 124 students from Bristol Eastern, Bristol Central, and St. Paul Catholic High School as scholar-athletes Sunday night. The requirement for earning this distinction is that a student must earn at least three varsity letters and maintain an average of 90 ( a GPA of 3.7) during their high school career.
The award ceremony is usually part of a dinner to honor the students, but the decision was made to instead have a remote ceremony via Zoom one more time because of Covid concerns when the ceremony was planned in January.
Joe McGinn Award
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the presentation of the Joe McGinn Award to the Unified Sports Team from Bristol Central and Bristol Eastern. The McGinn Award is given annually to a person or group that exhibits the traits that Joe McGinn always had during his life, a constant positive attitude and incredible courage in facing the hardships he encountered daily.
Student Speaker
Sarah Lindquist of St. Paul was the featured senior speaker this year, and she spoke eloquently of the experience of balancing school responsibilities with the daily practices and games involved in athletics, including the challenges and rewards of participating in athletics.
Scholarships Awarded
The Bristol Sports Hall of Fame also awarded six scholarships of $1,500 to two scholar-athletes from each school. The scholarship winners were:

Carson Rivoira was awarded the Alfred Greenleaf Memorial Scholarship.
Madeleine Ross was awarded the Leary Family Memorial Scholarship.
From Bristol Eastern
Alexsia Newman and Victoria Kosciukiewicz were both awarded the Christopher Calnan Memorial Scholarship.
From St. Paul
Adam Houle was awarded the Brian Farrell Sr. Memorial Scholarship.
Anna Kretsch was awarded the Roberge Family Memorial Scholarship.
