Linda M. (Pirro) Roman, 70

Linda M. (Pirro) Roman, 70, of Bristol, passed away on Monday, April 8, with her daughters by her side after a short but courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born on Nov. 11, 1953, in Waterbury and was the daughter of the late George Pirro, Sr. and Phyllis (Tolassi) Pirro. She was predeceased by her husband, George Roman.

Linda is survived by her daughters Tara Ciarmella and her husband Jim of Terryville, Erica Zaffetti and her husband Dave of Simsbury; grandchildren Grace and Halle Ciarmella & Lucas and Emma Zaffetti; brother George Pirro, Jr. of Wendell, N.C., and several special cousins, nieces and nephews.

Linda was proud to be a registered nurse for the last 47 years. She was known for being so kind and compassionate and truly loved her patients. She had a strong faith and always believed that no matter what happened, God had a plan for her. She enjoyed singing in her church choir at Holy Trinity in Terryville and participating in the pit chorus of the St. Thomas Passion Play in Southington. She also loved to spend her Sunday afternoons watching NASCAR and cheering on Joey Logano. Her greatest love of all, though, was her family – especially her grandchildren. Nothing brought her greater joy than to spend time with Grace, Halle, Lucas and Emma. She felt so blessed to have them and was such a wonderful Mimi.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 21, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 22, beginning at O’Brien Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with a service at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8 Maple St., Terryville. Burial will follow at Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol.

Erica and Tara would like to provide a heartfelt thank you to Linda’s special friends Joann and Paula who put their lives on hold to help take care of her throughout these unexpected and difficult months. They would also like to thank Linda’s nurse Michelle from Hartford Healthcare Hospice who showed such incredible compassion and always advocated for the best care.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Linda’s memory to the Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance for the 11th Annual Path of Hope under team Love for Linda, https://ctbta.rallybound.org/2024-path-of-hope/Team/View/187212/Love-for-Linda.

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.                Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.                Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
