The St. Paul girls basketball team begins the new season with some significant challenges this year. Several key players from last year have graduated and some others have encountered season-ending injuries.
Nevertheless, Coach Joe Mone has a group that is ready and eager to get this season going. Here is the Season Preview for the 2022-23 Falcons. The season begins tomorrow night as the Falcons host Kennedy from the Rev. Brian Monnerat Gymnasium.

2021-22 record: 18-6
Coach Joe Mone is in his 28th season as head coach. He has a career record of 421-211
Key returning players:
Seniors – Kelsea Tefoe, Abby Stanford, Haleigh Orzel, Sophie Bogdanski Natalia Reimer
Juniors– Olivia Dahn, Audrey Tice (All Division), Rebecca Kelly
Sophomores– Aniyah Moore, Maddy Bielecki, Iliana Chaplinski
Freshman– Zola Cudjoe, Carli Cerruto
Outlook for this season
Coach Mone said, “We have a bunch of players out with season ending injuries. We had 7 players gone from last year so building chemistry will be a priority in the beginning of the season and hopefully it translates to a much stronger team come February and March.”
Outlook for league:
Mone- “Holy Cross looks like the team at the top. I think there’s quite a few teams that can challenge for a league championship. I think we’ll be a better team in the second half of the season so hopefully we’ll be playing our best basketball then.”
