Eleanor Ruth Brandt, 89

Eleanore Ruth Brandt, 89, of Bristol, died on Tuesday, June 27, at Bristol Hospital.

Eleanore was born in Hartford on July 22, 1933, and was a daughter of the late Gustave and Martha (Dickau) Brandt. A lifelong Bristol resident, she graduated from Bristol High School with the class of 1951 and achieved her Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Hartford.

She thoroughly enjoyed her time as an accountant for the State of Connecticut Department of Education where she worked for over 25 years before retiring in 1994. During her retirement she volunteered at the Bristol Hospital and the Bristol Community Organization.

She enjoyed travelling extensively and often visited Florida during the winter with her sister and brother-in-law. She also enjoyed playing Bridge with friends and attending activities at the Bristol Senior Community Center. Eleanore will be remembered by family and friends for her great generosity and as a steadfast source of advice.

Eleanore was a devoted member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Bristol. Along with several close cousins, she leaves seven nieces and nephews including Todd, Timothy, Holly and Peter Talmadge as well as Richard W. Brandt, Catherine Dawson and Susan Alaniz. She was predeceased by a sister: Carole Talmadge and a brother: Richard G. Brandt.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 13, at 11 a.m. at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Burial will follow in West Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Thursday between 10 and 11 a.m.  Please visit Eleanore’s memorial website at www.FunkFuneralHome.com.
