Dairy Queen, we hardly knew ye

By Jack Krampitz

It is with a profound sense of regret that this TBE reporter must state what has become obvious to all Bristolites over the past several months- Dairy Queen in Bristol is not to be.

It has been well over a year since I announced with great fanfare the plans that the Queen would establish her presence on Farmington Avenue. Obviously, I was guilty of building up the hopes and expectations of the six loyal people who read my columns. For that cruel hoax, I humbly apologize.

I have offered my resignation to Dave Fortier and the other editors of TBE. Regrettably, they turned me down. After deliberating for several minutes, they told me there was no point in accepting my resignation because I work for no pay; therefore, the organization would save no money.

I promise you, my readers, that this is the last time I will broach the topic. And I have begun a search to purchase a home in Winsted, a town worthy of having their own Queen in residence.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
