Sigmund Seroczynski, Sr., 83

Sigmund Seroczynski, Sr., 83, of Bristol, died on Friday, Aug. 25, at Sharon Health Care Center. Sigmund was born in France on Sept. 12, 1939, and was the son of the late Antoni and Stefania (Krajewska) Seroczynski.

He came to Bristol from Bouligny, France, at age 12 and would attend Bristol schools until enlisting in the United States Navy. He was a tool and die maker for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft for 34 years before retiring. 

He was active in boy scouting and volunteering with BARC, the Carousel Museum, and the OM’s show for the Bristol Boys and Girls Club. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Palos Council #35, was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, and a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church, Bristol.

Sigmund is survived by three children: Lisa Shaw and husband, Dr. Nicholas of Elbert, Colo., Sigmund Seroczynski, Jr. and wife, Christine of Burlington, and John Seroczynski and Lisa Halem of Bristol; their mother, Lorraine Seroczynski; two sisters: Jeanette Drezek of Plainville, and Terrie Downs of Bristol; two grandchildren: Allison Carey and husband, Teddy, and Matthew Seroczynski and wife, Vera Minerly; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Hedwig Montowski. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, 510 West Street, Bristol. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.

Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Thursday between 5 and 7 p.m.
