Bristol Mum Festival welcomes Miss Mum Pageant back on Friday, September 24th

The Bristol Mum Festival committee has issued the following press release regarding the return of the Miss Mum Pageant to the festival this year.

Revamped Pageant Moves to New Location and Seeks Applicants.

The Mum Festival, which has been Bristol’s fall marquee community-focused event for almost 60 years, is proud to announce the return of the celebrated Miss Mum Pageant on Friday, September 24th

As the Festival moves downtown this year, the Bristol Exchange Club and the Mum FestivalCommittee are so excited that the event will take place on the first night of the Mum Festival and will be held outdoors on the Main Stage in the middle of all the action.

Local judges will judge contestants, and this year’s Pageant will consist of an opening number, choreographed by Nutmeg Performing Arts Studio, an onstage introduction, as well as age-appropriate questions to each of the candidates.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2021 Miss Mum Pageant. The Pageant is open to all Bristol, Forestville, Burlington, Plainville, Harwinton, Plymouth, Terryville, and Wolcott young ladies.

Once again, there will be four divisions: Miss Mum (for high school students), Junior Miss Mum (for middle school students), Miss Mum Petite (for 3rd – 5th graders), and Mini Miss Mum (for Kindergarten through 2nd).

Under the direction of Miss Mum Pageant Chairperson Brianna Longo, who served as Miss Mum in 1999, the Miss Mum Pageant committee will once again be working with the Nutmeg Performing Arts Center to create an exceptional evening that celebrates the mission of the Miss Chrysanthemum Pageant, which is to teach and encourage self-confidence, creative accomplishment, community service, and positive role-modeling among young women within the greater-Bristol community

“The Miss Mum Pageant is truly a celebration of the young ladies and future leaders in the greater Bristol area,” said Miss Mum Chairperson, Brianna Longo. “We are especially excited that this year will be outside and center stage as part of the opening ceremonies of the Mum Festival.”

The Mum Festival will be held on September 24th -26th, and as a reminder, due to ongoing construction and renovations at the Memorial Blvd. Magnet school, this year’s Mum Festival will be moving to Downtown Bristol with a new layout utilizing lower North Main Street, Hope Street, Riverside Avenue Ext., and Brackett Park.

“Miss Mum represents the Mum Festival at all events throughout the Festival,” continued Longo. “Important information, applications, and further details are now available on the Pageant’swebsite at https://misschrysanthemumpageant.godaddysites.com/. You can also follow the Pageant’s new Facebook page athttps://www.facebook.com/102157418798612/posts/103641381983549/?sfnsn=mo

We are certainly looking forward to continuing this honored Festival tradition that promises to be a highlight of this year’s Mum Festival.”
