The Mum Festival is returning to Memorial Boulevard Park this weekend to celebrate “60 Years of Flower Power.” Live music, family entertainment, food trucks and special events are all part of the annual autumn festivities.

Amusement rides will be operating on the midway during festival hours, and delectable food will be available to purchase. Thai Kitchen, Spot On Tacos, Cousins Lobster and Pure Goodness Bakery are among the local food vendors anticipated.

The Mum Festival opening ceremonies will be held on the main stage at 5 p.m. on Friday. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the newly renovated Rockwell Theater, where the Miss Mum Pageant will be held at 5:30 p.m.

All evening, visitors will have the opportunity to make a tie-dye shirt under the marquee tent.   Connecticut favorites Darik and the Funbags will rock the main stage at 7:30 p.m., with a spectacular laser light show following their performance.

The festivities will resume at noon on Saturday with plenty of family-friendly events, including hayrides, pony rides, Star Wars Padawan training and a petting zoo. The annual classic car show will be held in the BAIMS school parking lot from 1-5 p.m.

Live music will begin at 12:30 p.m. on the main stage with the Rich Badowski Blues Band, followed by RELIC, 42 Salute, and a solo acoustic artist. The headliner band Soul Sound Revue will take the stage at 7:00 p.m.

The annual Mum Festival parade will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m., with dozens of local organizations slated to march. The sounds of Lori and the Legends can be heard on the main stage 1 p.m., followed by headliners LB4 at 3:30 p.m. The closing ceremonies will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the festival will wrap up at 6 p.m.

The Mum Festival is located at 70 Memorial Boulevard, with operating hours: Friday, 5-9:30 p.m., Saturday, 12 noon-9:30 p.m., and Sunday 12 noon-6 p.m. Admission and parking are free.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
