Wolcott punishes St. Paul girls for another sluggish start, defeating the Falcons 49-44

Basketball

The Wolcott girls outscored St. Paul by 12 points in a low-scoring first half and held on to win 49-44, in a Friday night game at Wolcott last week.

St. Paul hit only one three-pointer all night in the Wolcott gym, while the home team knocked down six 3’s, and that proved to be the difference in the contest.

Julia Sullivan was on fire for Wolcott, scoring 22 points, including five of the above-mentioned treys. She was supported by Mayci Abou-Arrange with a 14 point night.

St. Paul was led by Rebecca Kelly with a strong 20 point performance. Audrey Tice had 14 for the Falcons, who are now 3-2 on the season.

Wolcott improved to 6-1 with the victory.

The Falcons will host Wilby of Waterbury on Tuesday night in a 7:00 encounter.
