Bristol resident Raelynne Andrews has been hired as the aquatics supervisor, with responsibilities for overseeing operations of the year-round indoor Dennis Malone Aquatics Center, Rockwell and Page Park pools.

“I hired Raelynne as a lifeguard in 2011 and it’s been an absolute pleasure to watch her professional growth,” said Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services superintendent Dr. Josh Medeiros in the release announcing the appointment. “Over the past 13 years, Raelynne has gained tremendous experience in the management of our city pools and brings fresh ideas for the future.”

Since 2011, Andrews has worked as a lifeguard, safety instructor, head lifeguard and aquatics coordinator. She has achieved the highest-level certifications in aquatics including American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor Trainer and Certified Pool Operator.

In addition to her aquatics experience, Andrews holds a master’s degree in social work from Quinnipiac University and is a licensed social worker.

The supervisor schedules, coordinates and oversees an extensive learn to swim program, recreational swim team, water fitness classes, special events and rentals as well as overseeing the scheduling, training and management of over 100 aquatics staff including lifeguards, water safety instructors and front desk attendants.

Andrews begins her new role on Monday Feb. 26.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
