Isabel H. (Smolenski) Drwila, 94

Isabel H. (Smolenski) Drwila, 94, widow of Joseph Drwila, was called peacefully home to God on Tuesday, July 18, after a long illness. Isabel was born in Bristol on Feb. 13, 1929, to the late Joseph and Mary Smolenski.

A lifelong resident of Bristol, she graduated from Bristol High School and soon became a loving wife and mother, as well as an accomplished seamstress. Isabel, a woman of strong faith, loved her family and home, and was happy to be able to remain living there until her passing.

Isabel is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband: Joseph; her two children: Christine and Joey; her sister: Florence Smolenski; and brothers: Frank, Anthony and Al Smolenski.

The family is sincerely grateful to her extraordinary friends and neighbors, Sherri and Keith, to her caregivers, and especially to Bristol Hospital Hospice, particularly her nurse, Katie, for their exceptional loving and compassionate care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 28, at 11 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church, 235 Maltby St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. There are no calling hours. The family thanks Funk Funeral Home, for their wonderful care in making arrangements.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
