The city council meets tonight immediately following the Joint Board. Among the issues to be raised is a proclamation decrying racism and outlining a city-wide approach to addressing the issue.

Among those planning to attend are Adam Antar and Camelia Lopez, who are leading the initiative, and members of the local NAACP chapter.

The Joint Board meets at 6:45 p.m. The meetings are being held at the Board of Education auditorium, while city hall is being renovated.

Rockwell music series continues this evening with American roots group

The Rockin’ Out Summer Music series at Rockwell Park features Marc Berger and RIDE, with an opening act beginning at 6 p.m. and the featured group from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Marc Berger and RIDE features American roots music, with its origins in Berger’s own travels in the American West and influenced by A.B. Guthrie visual artists like John Ford and Frederick Remington.

COVID updates for the past 7 days

Bristol has experienced a drop in cases from 51 to 38 in the last week, and the positivity rate has dipped from 8.9 percent to 7.6 percent, however, the city remains in the red category with over 15 cases per 100,000 people.

The CDC recommends that people at high risk for severe illness, talk to their healthcare provider about whether to need to wear a mask and take other precautions. In addition, the CDC reminds people to take the following measures:

In Hartford County the community level is low.

  • Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines
  • Get tested if you have symptoms
  • People may choose to mask at any time. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.
  • People who are immunocompromised, can learn more about how to protect themselves here.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access five (5) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will also be able to access five (5) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have no limits.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
