Welcome to Thursday, Bristol. Mileage may vary.

Weather

Study

A recent study by Bristol Study’s (BS) found that interesting facts are only interesting 50 percent of the time. Researchers at BS said the other 50 percent of the time interesting facts are only half interesting.

In case we forget to write about it before July 2

Amelia Earhart disappeared 86 years ago on July 2, 1937, while trying to circumnavigate the world in a twin-engine Lockheed Electra. There are three real possibilities as to her fate:

  1. Earhart and her aviator Fred Noonan crashed and sank in the Pacific after running out of fuel.
  2. They landed safely on Gardner Island but died before being rescued.
  3. Earhart crash-landed in the Marshall Islands, was captured by the Japanese military, and died with Noonan while being held prisoners on the island of Saipan.

GMB staff are partial to No. 3.

It was said

On Feb. 26, 1963, Bristol Mayor Walter Murphy (R) said of James P. Casey (D), his first cousin and opponent in the upcoming election, “In a rather pathetic and weak announcement of his prospective candidacy for the highest office in Bristol, former Mayor James P Casey once again indicated the same type of negative thinking that he championed throughout his administration.”

The Gazpacho

Rest easy Bristol and keep your pants on. See ya, Friday (maybe).

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
