Good morning, Bristol!

Good morning (or whenever you read this), Bristol. The walls are rapidly closing in 2022.

Weather

Partly cloudy with temps in the mid-50s.

Statistics

Americans spend almost $6 billion a year on paper towels.

Since its invention in the 1930s, half a billion Yo-Yos have been sold in the United States.

Bristol factoid

In 1870, Bristol Savings Bank became the first permanent chartered bank in Bristol.

Wish you were here

The English rock band Pink Floyd wrote and recorded their song Wish You Were Here in May and July of 1975. The original working titles were An Afternoon at Home with the Duke of Royden and then later The Squire of Royden.

At the time, David Gilmour, the song’s co-writer, lived near Royden, a village in the county of Essex in England.

NFL this date

In 1973, with bids to the Super Bowl on the line, the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Dallas Cowboys 27-10, while the Miami Dolphins beat the Oakland Raiders 27-10.

It is the only time the conference championship games ended with the same score.

Time for ‘The Goldilocks and the Three Bears’

Well, Bristol, enjoy the day out there. Time to go, so see you around.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
