The Main Street Community Foundation issued the following news release after their annual meeting.
New Leadership and Board Members Introduced
Before a gathering of board members, past leadership and staff at Main Street Community Foundation’s Annual Meeting, the Foundation celebrated 2021 – a year of resilience. The COVID-19 pandemic challenged MSCF and the community in ways no one could have imagined, yet we all persevered and MSCF continued to respond with flexible and responsive grantmaking.
The Foundation awarded $2.2 million in grants and scholarships to benefit the residents of and improve the quality of life in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott through programs and community leadership initiatives. The grants were distributed from component funds, most of which are endowments, established by individuals, families, businesses and other organizations.
“Now more than ever, the impact of local charitable giving is making a difference every day in our communities,” said Susan Sadecki, President & CEO of MSCF. Over $23.4 million has now been distributed since the Foundation’s establishment in 1995.
Furthermore, the Foundation received $2.1 million in contributions in 2021 and 12 new funds were established by local residents to support causes they care about to better their communities.
New Year Brings New Leadership to MSCF Board of Directors
Main Street Community Foundation also elected new officers at its Annual Meeting. Scott F. Fournier was elected as Board Chair and Daniel J. Daigle as Vice Chair. Moving into the role of Secretary is Kathryn C. Reinhard, and the Treasurer will be William R. Micari.
In addition, two new members of the Board of Directors were welcomed. John-David Scarritt is the Vice President, Senior Commercial Loan Officer at Thomaston Savings Bank, and Michael F. Sweeney is the Vice President Commercial Loan Officer at Torrington Savings Bank.
The MSCF Board of Directors consists of community leaders charged with ensuring donors’ intentions are fulfilled in perpetuity.
“The Board plays an essential role in guiding the Foundation’s work in the region. These individuals are ambassadors of the communities they represent,” said Sadecki. “We are grateful for their generous commitment of time and the valuable expertise each brings to the Foundation.”
The Main Street Community Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for both present and future generations in the communities served by encouraging and promoting gift planning, prudent stewardship of assets, effective grantmaking and community leadership. A nonprofit public charity, created by private citizens, the foundation works with donors in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott who wish to build permanent charitable endowments to support their communities. Since its founding in 1995, the foundation has provided over $23.4 million in grants and scholarships.
