Bristol’s Allaire, a warrior on the baseball diamond

By Michael Letendre

In terms in the best baseball players from the Mum City in the 2000s, former Bristol Eastern standout Sean Allaire was a special player that came through several Bristol programs, performing at the highest level.

He was a model player that rarely struck out and played every inning like it was his last.

After an outstanding career for the Lancers and the Bristol American Legion baseball program, Allaire moved on to Central Connecticut State University and was one of the best players to ever suit up for the squad.

Allaire was the 2010 Northeast Conference player of the Year at Central Connecticut as a senior.

He had a spectacular campaign, helping the Blue Devils win 33 games and the Northeast Conference championship.

Allaire batted a team-leading .426 and wrangled up 100 hits, tying a school record.

He set the single-season school ledger for doubles (22) and tied the mark for RBIs (73).

In addition to being named the NEC Player of the Year as a senior, Allaire received America Baseball Coaches Association and Louisville Slugger All-American honors.

He also earned All-Region honors from the ABCA and New England Intercollege Baseball Association All-New England First Team accolades, in addition to being named All-NEC twice.

Following graduation from CCSU, Allaire played in independent professional baseball leagues, splitting the 2011 season between the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League and the Las Cruces Vagueros of the Pecos League.

Longevity and a dedication to the sport was what fueled Allaire’s outstanding career that lasted into the Tri-State Baseball League in the mid 2010s.

The Numbers

Allaire played in 180 total games at Central Connecticut, batting .358 with 231 hits, 50 doubles, 11 triples, 17 home runs and 122 RBI.

He stole 21 bases, walked 55 times and slugged the ball at a .548 clip.

In 2009 as a junior for the Blue Devils, Allaire was named Second Team All-NEC.

He batted .329 with team-high 70 hits, starting all 48 games he played in.

Allaire drove in 23 runs and scored a team-best 53 runs during that great junior campaign.

As a sophomore at Central (2008), Allaire batted .313 (third on the team) with 57 hits, 14 doubles, 37 runs — starting all 47 games.

And during his freshman campaign of 2005, the infielder played in 29 games — starting two — while going 4-of-16 from the plate (.250).

He tallied three RBI and scored six runs.

Allaire lettered at Bristol Eastern and was a two-time All-Conference selection in 2004 and 2005.

He was named Second Team All-State in 2005 and earned All-Regional Team recognition in 2004 after batting .436.

Numbers after CCSU

For the Washington Wild Things in 2011, Allaire batted .222 with a double and two runs scored while playing extremely well for Las Cruces.

He saw action in nine games for Las Cruces — batting .323 with 10 hits, seven runs scored, a double, three triples and seven RBI.

Career at Bristol Eastern included basketball

Allaire was a standout in both baseball and basketball for the Lancers.

On the hardwood, Allaire played in just about every game during his junior and senior seasons — averaging 3.6 points-per-game for his career.

He canned 27 three-pointers for the program which put him just outside the top-20 in Eastern history by the time he graduated.

In his final basketball game for Eastern, Allaire tallied career-highs of 16 points and six steals at Plainville on Feb. 24, 2005.
