SIMSBURY – The Bristol Eastern wrestling squad took on a buzzsaw in the form of top-ten ranked Simsbury on Wednesday evening.

The Lancers held their ground over several matches but in the end, the Trojans racked up a 59-18 victory in a CCC Interdivisional battle from Simsbury High School.

Simsbury improved to 2-1 overall while Eastern fell to 0-2.

Eastern found success on the mats at 106 as Andrew Brown was able to tally a 5-4 decision over Liam Parise while Luke Viens (120) wasted little time in defeating Jonathan Pascavis – needing just 20 seconds to secure a pin-fall victory.

At 152, Eastern’s Rocco Barbino went the full six minutes against Brendan Shugrue, scooping up a 6-4 decision in the end.

And at 220, Eastern’s Evan Gleifert did not have an opponent, winning his bout via forfeit.

Michael Roalf (113 pounds), Anthony Rogers (126), Soph Um (132), Gianluca Morello (138), Joshua Aubin (145), Ryan (170) and Adam (182) Zavecz, Owen Broyles (195) and Diandre Diaz-Bazilio (285) all worked hard for the Lancers over tough losing efforts.

The Lancers are back to work on Saturday at the annual BCHS Invitational.
