Ercole Labadia, 87

Ercole Labadia, 87, of Bristol and Stuart, Fla., passed away on Dec. 25, with his wife of 40 years Pamela (Plourde) Labadia and his family by his side. Erc was the second of three sons of Joseph and Italia Labadia.

After graduating from St. Anthony High School, Erc enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1955-1957 as a medic. He returned to Bristol and started his career at Bristol Federal Savings and Loan, which later became Eagle Bank. He retired as Executive Vice President after 40 years.

Erc loved family, friends, food and golf. He spent most winters in Florida, golfing with friends who always commented that his love of food was his favorite subject. He especially loved to travel, and he and Pam traveled throughout the U.S. and Europe with Italy being their favorite destination. Erc enjoyed cooking so many of his mother’s Italian recipes.

Erc was extremely active in the Bristol community, and he always said if he was successful in life, it was because of his upbringing at St. Anthony’s School and the Bristol Boys Club where he spent many good years. He was a life active member of OM’s-Keystone.

In 1950 he was Boy of the Year at the Bristol Boys Club, he also received the Boys Club Humanitarian Award and was a past president of the Older Member’s Association of the Boys Club. In 1970 he was the Bristol Jaycee’s Man of the Year.

Erc served on the Bristol Retirement Board, the Board of Directors of BARC, Chairman of the United Way of Bristol and as a Bristol Police Commissioner. He was a past President of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce and received the Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award. He was also a past President of Chippanee Country Club and a longtime Director of the First Bristol Federal Credit Union.

In addition to his wife, Erc is survived by his sons Mark Labadia and his wife Stacy of Ocala, Fla., and Scott Labadia and his wife Wendy of Plainville; his five grandchildren, Christopher Labadia and his fiancée Ellen Green of Charlotte, N.C., Bryan Labadia and his wife Andrea of Mooresville, N.C., Jessica Rossignol and her husband Christopher of New Britain, Erika Walsh and her husband Robert of Bristol and Brandon Labadia of Plainville; six great-grandchildren Thomas and Kelly Walsh of Bristol, Trevor and Carson Rossignol of New Britain and Remy and Luca Martin of Mooresville, N.C., and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his two brothers Anthony and Salvatore Labadia.

Erc’s family would like to thank Bristol Hospital’s Cancer Care team, Dr. Brahaj, Kate, Rebecca, Patty, Georgiana, Aurora and the rest of the team and also Bristol Home Care and Hospice for their support and care, Samantha, Amanda, Michelle, Julie and Sarah.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
