Music Monday

The bridge of an A-Style sunburst mandolin. | Laura Bailey

Monday, Monday, so good to me. Families, friends and neighbors looking to unwind from the holiday hustle and bustle with a little music have several chances to hear some local talent this week.

For those who can’t get enough of the holiday classics, two Bristol organizations have sounds to help you continue your silent nights and sleigh rides.

“A Holiday Celebration” concert featuring the Bristol Chorale and Bristol Brass & Wind Ensemble can be viewed live on Nutmeg TV at the following dates/times:

  • Monday, Dec. 26, at 9:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 2 a.m.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 2 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 31, at 10 a.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 31, at 10 p.m.

Bleachers Bar on Middle Street, which recently hosted the Psychedelic Sunday benefit concert for Brian’s Angels, has two live bands playing this week:

  • Rebel City will be playing a mix of classic rock covers and modern favorites on Friday, Dec. 30, at 8:30 p.m.
  • EGG will bring their noisy post-punk sound to a New Year’s Eve show on Saturday, Dec. 31, at 9 p.m.

Keep the records spinning till we meet again, Bristol.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
