Shirley J. Douglas, 91

Shirley J. Douglas, 91, of Bristol, passed away on Friday, July 14, at home. She was born Nov. 6, 1931, in Terryville, daughter of the late John and Helen (Zelanski) Wunsch.

Shirley is the widow of her husband Stanley R. Douglas who passed away in 2008. She worked at Iseli’s Screw Machine Company for many years. Shirley enjoyed doing crafts, embroidery, going on adventures and crocheting. Over the years, she has crocheted many blankets for people, especially children.

Shirley is survived by her son Chester Klimanoski of Bristol; daughter Marie Hawes of North Carolina; stepchildren MaryAnn Douglas of Southington, Carolyn Douglas of Portland, Richard Douglas and his wife Judie of Chester; a special niece JoAnn and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, Shirley is predeceased by her son James Klimanoski and stepdaughter Joan D’Antonio.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 19, at O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol starting at 4 p.m. until a service that will begin at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
