Bristol Central and Bristol Eastern’s cross country squads run well from the CCC Championships on Tuesday

MANCHESTER – The postseason started for the boys cross country teams on Tuesday as Bristol Central and Bristol Eastern took on all the competition at the Central Connecticut Conference Championships from Wickham Park in Manchester.

And Central’s Frankie Porrini was in the thick of things from start to finish.

The outstanding junior finished the race in 17:14.2 which was the 17th best time overall while Porrini was the runner-up in the CCC South.

Justin Cascio of Lewis Mills was tenth overall in the race (16:42.8) and ended up as the champion of the South.

In the CCC South portion of the race, Eastern’s Logan Crowley earned sixth place with a finish of 18:11.9 while Central’s Chris Roy was right in the mix along with Crowley.

Roy nabbed eighth with a time of 18:18 and soon after, Eastern’s Dominic Tartarelli made a 13th place showing in 18:31.2.

Also for the locals, Dante Marciano (Eastern, 19th, 19:09.3), Josh Poulin (Central, 21st, 19:35.8), Lance Archibald (Central, 22nd 19:39.0), Aidan Tartarelli (Eastern, 23rd, 19:40.2), Ryan Sarmiento (Central, 24th, 19:42.3) and Patrick Wininger (Central, 25th, 19:48.6) all ran very well in the conference event for the Rams and Lancers.

The CCC South team championship went to Lewis Mills, earning the 2021 title behind a 48-point showing.

Plainville was the runner-up with 60 points while Central (77) earned third place.

Berlin took fourth place (83) while Eastern seized fifth (97).

Overall, Central finished in 14th place over the entire CCC field with 369 points while Eastern took 16th (438 points).

Hall of West Hartford won the overall CCC race with 78 points, followed by runner-up Avon (102), and Manchester (132).

Rounding out the top five programs were Southington (fourth, 203 points) and Simsbury (fifth, 211).

Conard’s Callum Sherry won the overall race in 15:31.2 to take the individual title.

JV Race

In the JV bout, Bristol Central’s Scott Petrosky made a big splash for the locals, placing 52nd overall with a time of 20:25 while Eastern’s Dylan Prince took 76th place (20:52).

Central’s Jude Browning (94th place, 21:14.7), Emil Berube (134th, 21:58.9), and Jayden Sokolowski (141st, 22:13) all had solid finishes for the Rams.
