March for peace today at 2 p.m., beginning at Federal Hill Green and ending at Birge Pond

A march for peace will began at 2 p.m. today, when participants gather at the Federal Hill Green and continue with a 1.2 mile walk to Hoppers Birge Pond Nature Preserve, where there will be prayers and music.

“Let There Be Peace on Earth: A Walk for Continued Conflict Awareness” is being coordinated by the Connecticut Central Co-operative Parish and the United Methodist sisters and brothers for Peace.

The march commemorates several dates in world history. The first is the Korean armistice agreement that was signed on July 27, 1953, ending the Korean War. The second is Aug. 15, ending Japan’s rule over South Korea, which South Koreans celebrate annually National Liberation Day.

The event is dedicated to peace in Korea and around the world. Everyone is welcome. Participants are encouraged to coordinate ride sharing from Birge Pond back to the Federal Hill Green. Parking is available at the First Congregational Church adjacent to the Green

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
