Bristol Eastern girls tennis drops 7-0 decision to Avon on Thursday afternoon

By Michael Letendre

The Bristol Eastern girls tennis team squared off against undefeated Avon on Thursday afternoon, falling by a 7-0 final from the tennis courts at BEHS.

The Falcons improved to 2-0 while the Lancers fell to 0-4.

But each match for the young squad from Eastern is a step forward as the locals continue to improve as the season moves along.

Avon was tough as the program did not allow Eastern to notch a point in singles play.

In number one singles play, Avon’s Ren Barton defeated Eastern senior Brooke Treannie (6-0, 6-0) while at No. 2, Lucy Belvai topped sophomore Adrianna Reay (6-0, 6-0).

No. 3 singles competitor Tanvi Arora picked up the sweep against Eastern senior Olivia Dossias (6-0, 6-0) and at No. 4, Tanvi Raman knocked off freshman Vanessa Cyr (6-0, 6-0).

The Lancers did a bit better in doubles play, scoring a few points along the way.

The combination of Sam Senthil and Nandita Senthil defeated Eastern’s super sophomore tandem of Ava Gesner and Andrea Martir Perez by set scores of 1-6 and 2-6.

At No. 2 doubles, the Falcons’ team of Maya Corrie and Aisha Alam turned away Eastern’s senior twosome of Trisha Mohan and Kiana Ouellette, 1-6 and 1-6.

And finally at No. 3 doubles, Avon’s Miriam Jackman and Adele Oprica spun junior Samantha Rivard and freshman Maria Perrone, 0-6 and 2-6.

Eastern remains home for its next three matches, looking to pick up that first win of the season.

The Kingstreeters battle Manchester on Monday, Berlin travels to Bristol on Friday and on Monday, May 2, Lewis Mills enters the city limits for a CCC South bout.

All matches commence at 3:45 p.m.
