Therese (Lessard) Albert, 93

Therese (Lessard) Albert, 93, of Bristol, widow of Roger Albert, passed away peacefully in the company of family, on Dec. 26, at Ingraham Manor. Therese was born in Montpelier, Vt., on Sept. 9, 1930, and was one of nine children of the late Edmund F. Lessard and Aurore G. Lessard Chapman and stepdaughter of the late Thomas Chapman.

Raised in Montpelier, she was a hearty Vermont girl with an adventurous spirit. Therese loved school, family time with her siblings, and winter sports, especially ice skating, which she later passed on to her children. She came to Connecticut in her teens, where she graduated high school in Bristol.

She worked at Sessions Clock Company to help support her siblings. After her marriage to Roger and starting her family, Therese worked for the former Bristol Visiting Nurse Association and Allstate Insurance prior to her retirement. After retirement, she worked as secretary to her son Mark with his new auto recycling business.

Therese was a loving, dedicated wife and mother of seven children. She was a skilled, insightful problem solver, the “go-to” person, always ready when needed by family or friend. She had a knack for fixing things of a mechanical nature and was always ready to roll up her sleeves to tackle a challenge.

When she had a free moment, she could be found gardening, sewing, or reading on her favorite subject, history. Therese loved to travel, her favorites including a cross-country road trip, exploring the east coast, an Alaskan adventure, and visits to Canada and Europe. She was a longtime faithful parishioner of St. Matthew Church, Forestville where she was a member of the Guild of the Blessed Sacrament.

Therese is survived by six children and their spouses: Patricia and Dennis Orticari of Southington, Steven and Kathleen Albert of Northfield, N.H., Brian and Leslie Albert of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Mark and Julie Albert of New Hartford, John and Lori Albert of Bristol, and Paul and Michele Albert of Bristol; three grandchildren: Michael, Christen, and Patrick; two great-grandchildren: Celina and Lilianna; and beloved sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and faithful friends, Ellie and Kym. She was predeceased by a son and daughter-in-law: James and Sharon Albert; and her siblings: Helena Brunelle, Claire Douglas; Paul Lessard, Lucien Lessard, Leo Lessard, Cecile Abramczyk, Rita Lessard, and Denise Abramczyk.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, at 9 a.m. from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave., Bristol, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
