Reps. Pavalock-D’Amato, Betts and Sen. Martin to collect weathered flags for proper retirement

State Representatives Cara Pavalock-D’Amato (R-77), Whit Betts (R-78) and State Senator Henri Martin (R-31) are encouraging residents to turn in worn American Flags for a proper retirement. Flags will be collected beginning Tuesday, May 31st through Friday, June 10th at two drop off locations in Bristol.

Collection Sites:

Bristol Public Library, 5 High Street

Bristol Mayor’s Office, 150 Main Street

The U.S. Flag Code specifies that the flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning. All flags collected during this time will be brought to a local veteran’s organization for a proper retirement ceremony.
